2019 APRIL | COLLAB WITH THE STRANGE IS BEAUTIFUL
I made this illustration in collaboration with @thestrangeisbeautiful (TSIB). Self-healing shouldn’t come from spending money but understanding the self. And growing from that understanding.
Thank you @ruby.i.ahmad for sharing a bit of yourself and allowing me to draw that.
“You can be broke and self-care” is a photo and interview project by @thestrangeisbeautiful featuring people with mind obstacles (that’s what we call mental illnesses) practicing alternative self-care authentically in their home or space. . Our intention is to show that self-care doesn’t require spending a lot of money, or wearing expensive clothes. It is a rebellion against capitalism and societal expectations that productivity always has to be making or spending money. . From the submissions we received, we chose a wide range in ages, from 14-37, as well as in body types, ethnicities, identities, mind obstacles, and all different self-care practices. To get involved, or to offer a space for pop-up exhibits, DM @thestrangeisbeautiful. . Learn more about our work at TheStrangeisBeautiful.com. . TSIB changes the way mental illnesses mind obstacles are seen, makes alternative self-care accessible, and creates a positive community for those struggling."
